What Chrome Delete Is

Bright Trim, Blacked Out.

Chrome delete is exactly what it sounds like. Every bright piece the factory bolted to your car — window surrounds, badges, grille slats, mirror caps — gets covered in precision-cut vinyl so it reads black instead of silver. Nothing is cut, sanded, drilled or painted. The chrome is still there, sealed under a film.

On a lot of sedans, trucks and SUVs the chrome window surrounds are the loudest thing on the exterior. Black them out and the whole profile tightens up — no paint, no wheels, no bodywork.

Because it is trim work rather than panel work, chrome delete starts at $220 and most cars are done the same day. What moves the number is how many pieces you want covered and how intricate they are. It is one branch of our partial wrap work, so it pairs naturally with a hood, a roof or stripes.

What Gets Covered

Every Bright Piece.

You do not have to take all of it. Plenty of drivers start with the window surrounds and come back for the grille later. Here is the usual running order, loudest first.

01

Window Surrounds & Pillar Trim

The chrome strips framing the side glass, plus the pillar covers between the doors. The biggest single change on most cars.

02

Badges & Emblems

Model badges, trim-level lettering and manufacturer emblems — wrapped in place or taken off and wrapped off the car, depending on how they are mounted.

03

Grille & Bumper Accents

Grille slats, the surround, and the chrome strips along the bumper. Layered, fiddly shapes — this is the part that takes the patience.

04

Mirror Caps & Handles

Mirror housings, door handles and any chrome belt-line strip or scuff plate. Small pieces, but they stop the job looking half finished.

Choose the Finish.

Gloss black holds a reflection, so on a car with gloss paint the trim reads as part of the bodywork — the closest thing to having the pieces painted. Satin sits between gloss and matte: a soft sheen that catches light without mirroring it, so the trim stays a deliberate accent. Matte kills reflection completely and reads flat and technical. All three are the same install and the same price bracket, so pick on looks, not budget. Gloss and satin are what we fit most.

01

How Long It Lasts

Wrap vinyl is rated for 3½–5 years. Hand washing and garage parking push it toward the top of that range; automated brushes and harsh chemicals pull it down.

02

It Comes Off

Nothing about a chrome delete is permanent. The film peels away and the original trim is underneath exactly as it left the factory — useful when you sell the car.

03

It Protects What It Covers

While the film is on, the chrome beneath it is shielded from UV, road grit and the pitting that dulls bright trim. You are adding a layer, not stripping one.

Before You Ask

Chrome Delete Questions.

Chrome delete starts at $220. The final number depends on how many trim pieces you want covered and how intricate they are, so we quote your exact vehicle first, free and with no obligation.

No. The vinyl peels off and the original chrome is still underneath, unchanged. That is the main reason drivers choose it over painting or replacing trim.

No. Nothing is cut, sanded or drilled. While the film is on it shields the trim from UV, road grit and the pitting that dulls bright chrome over time.

Most chrome deletes are finished the same day. We confirm the exact time when we quote your car, because a badge swap and a full window-surround package are not the same job.

Gloss holds a reflection and reads closest to a painted piece, so it blends into gloss bodywork. Satin has a softer sheen that stays visible against the paint. Both install the same way and sit in the same price bracket, so choose on looks.

Wrap vinyl is rated for 3.5 to 5 years. Hand washing and parking in a garage extend that; automated brushes and harsh chemicals shorten it. We hand you a short care guide at pickup.
